SPFdonatebuttonThe Safe Passage Fund is a new “rapid response” fund created to provide emergency travel funds and support to LGBTQ individuals and allies who face immediate threats of arrest, attacks, violence and persecution in countries where harsh laws have fostered a climate of extreme homophobia.

Today, Uganda and Nigeria are among African countries where harsh anti-gay laws have spurred hundreds of LGBTQ individuals, gender rights and HIV/AIDS activists to go into hiding and seek refuge in other countries. Russia, Iran, and Ivory Coast also among countries where state-sanctioned homophobia has pushed members of the LGBTQ community and their allies to seek emergency refuge from acts and threats of violence, arrest, and severe discrimination.

In partnership with our sister fund in Kenya, Urgent Action Fund – Africa, the Safe Passage Fund makes rapid grants within 1-7 days to LGBTQ individuals and organizations supporting sexual minorities who are in danger and require immediate assistance to seek refuge in safer settings, including humanitarian asylum seekers.

Join us in standing with our LGBTQ partners by making a donation today

All donations are tax-deductible and will be used exclusively for emergency support to help individuals in immediate danger seeking refuge elsewhere. A 5% administration fee will be held by Urgent Action Fund as the fiscal agent for the Fund.
