What are Evacuation Grants?
Urgent Action Fund supports women activists who are being threatened because of their work defending human rights. The Evacuation Grant is a specific type of Rapid Response Grant, designed for those in urgent need of relocation funding because of threats, persecution and/or an extreme security situation. Grants in this category can be used for evacuations within a country (such as moving to a safe house in another city) or for relocation outside of a country.

If you have reviewed our criteria, believe you qualify for a Rapid Response Grant, and wish to apply for an Evacuation Grant, please fill out the application below.
A note about the security of your application
The online grant application is encrypted upon submission. In order to maintain your privacy, UAF will delete your online application from the server within 72 hours.
You can also submit your application using www.hushmail.com. You must create a free account first and email us at urgentactionfund@hushmail.com. The transmission of emails using Hushmail are fully encrypted in order to maintain your privacy.
Text messaging (SMS) and telephone applications are the least secure methods of communicating sensitive information. Please refrain from using those methods if you think you are being monitored.

Grant applications can be submitted in any language and you will receive a response within 72 hours. Requests can be made for up to $5,000 USD.

- If you have difficulty writing, typing, or accessing a computer, you may submit a request by phone or SMS text message. Online Evacuation Grant Application
Information about the circumstances of a proposal will be shared with regional advisors as needed. Please note, the information we disclose to parties outside of UAF (e.g. donors, newsletters, website) is limited to the organization name, country and circumstances of a proposal, unless you request confidentiality. We do not disclose individual names, contact information, or other identifying information that could potentially expose the organization or individual to greater risk.
