Urgent Action Fund partners with women’s funds around the world through our re-granting program. We work with fellow members of the International Network of Women’s Funds to reach women’s human rights activists in the Global South, Eastern Europe and Asia.
Our re-granting partnerships are another way we provide support to women’s human rights activists through mobilizing local resources. This method also puts decision-making power in the hands of local women’s funds. Each partner adapts Urgent Action Fund’s Rapid Response Grantmaking model to meet the needs of their region.
Re-granting partners receive grants ranging from $10,000-$20,000 and the partnerships are designed to be long-term. Our partners provide detailed reports of their grantmaking and Urgent Action Fund evaluates the partnership every three years. Re-granting partnerships are currently by invitation only.
Current re-granting partners are:
- Reconstruction Women’s Fund was formed after a strategic transformation of the Women’s Program of the Fund for an Open Society Serbia. It is the first local women’s foundation in Serbia.
- Women’s Fund in Georgia is the first locally established grantmaking organization, which supports activities and initiatives for social change carried out by women’s groups in Georgia.
- Nirnaya is the first women’s fund set up to make a difference in the lives of the marginalized women of urban and rural India and enhance their decision-making capacity.
