We are pleased to welcome three new staff members to our team: Meerim Ilyas Chinn, Xin Xin, and Caitlin Stanton. They bring to Urgent Action Fund a diversity of skills and experiences in global health, resource mobilization, land rights, monitoring and evaluation, indigenous rights, Central and East Asia, and more. When asked why they were passionate about women’s human rights, here is what they said:
“A world without equal rights for women and girls is like a plane trying to fly with only one wing. I, for one, prefer to fly in planes that have two wings, but for me it’s about more than just equality. UAF stands in partnership with some of the most courageous activists in the world, women who put everything on the line to advance the human rights of others. Having their backs is the least we can do.”
“Naturally, as a woman, I am committed to women’s human rights. But I want my commitment to turn into a passionate and productive endeavor to help my sisters and brothers around the world to create change and improve their lives. UAF is a perfect vehicle for this effort.”
“New to the feminist world, I’m hoping to understand what people actually mean when they say ‘women’s rights are human rights’ and how this can translate to better grantmaking, advocacy, and policy.”
