3 things you can do right now to fortify women’s & LGBTQ equality in the US

Yesterday, the Urgent Action Fund came together to formulate a response to the outcome of the US election. Many of you not only read Kate’s words, but acted on them by donating to our Emergency Fund for Women’s Human Rights & LBTQI Rights Activism in the United States. Thank you for being awake and compassionate on a day when disengagement and disbelief were understandable responses.

Yesterday’s results reminded us how vital our work at UAF is in supporting activists with rapid response grants. In the spirit of love and justice, today we must continuing moving forward, despite the disappointment and fear. Today we act with courage, even as our hearts break.

In the words of Assata Shakur, “It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains.”

Below are 3 steps you can take right now, in 3 minutes or less, that will make a big difference to defending the human rights of women, girls, and transgender people:

2. Follow #SheLeadsToo

The “#SheLeadsToo” hashtag is being used on social media to share the inspiring stories of women leading with others. Follow the hashtag and apply it to your own life and movements. Now more than ever, celebrating and uplifting women’s leadership matters.
