Meditations on blossoming

“this life
has been
a landscape
of pain

and still,
bloom in it.”

– Sanober Khan, Thousand Flamingos

At Urgent Action Fund, when we think of the heart, we think of courage. Courage: from the Old French: corage – a cry of the heart; to speak one’s mind by telling one’s heart.

The activists the Urgent Action Fund supports unapologetically honor the cries of their hearts by standing up for equity and justice even if it isn’t easy to do so.

These activists are women like: Lian, Kemal, Quetzalli, Cat and many more.

Today, we honor them and appreciate the work they do each day across the globe. They lead from their heart, and they continue leading even when it is unpopular to do so or when the world’s short attention span has drifted away.

For many, this moment in time feels like one of great challenges. Yet more than ever, we know what our hearts cry out for.

Our hearts cry out for women’s, LBTQI, and trans* human rights.
Our hearts cry out for women water and environmental protectors.
Our hearts cry out for reproductive, racial, and economic justice.

What does your heart cry out for today? How do you stand up for what you believe by speaking from the heart?

We hope you will join us in renewed commitment and the spirit of love.
