COVID Crisis Fund For Feminist Activists

Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights establishes a fund to help deploy resources to activists on the frontlines of the COVID-19 outbreak.

This moment is uncertain, it is scary and unprecedented. But we are resilient! Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights was built for moments like this, where providing quick infusions of support can address immediate and urgent needs.

As the COVID-19 pandemic intensifies and spreads, we know that it will have a significant and disproportionate impact on the health and wellbeing of women, LGBTQ activists, Black and Brown communities, and those living with disabilities. We want to assure you that UAF is committed to being flexible and responsive in this moment, but we need your help to address the growing and urgent community needs!

Support activists on the frontline of the COVID-19 outbreak through the COVID Crisis Fund for Feminist Activists.

To meet this moment UAF is announcing the launch of our “COVID Crisis Fund For Feminist Activists.” This fund was created in response to a growing number of grant requests we have been receiving from frontline activists for support during this global health crisis. Your donation to the COVID Crisis Fund for Feminist Activists goes directly to supporting activists working amid this global pandemic safeguarding the rights of women, girls, trans, and LQBTQI+. In a time when it is needed the most your gift can help build activists’ capacity to respond in their communities.

The COVID Crisis Fund for Feminist Activists prioritizes activities related to COVID-19 community responses including:

  • Wellness/healing/community care/trauma-related work
  • Access for digital spaces and remote work/gatherings (ie. VPNs or other digital security tools)
  • Feminist and intersectional public health responses to COVID-19
  • Online advocacy campaigns
  • COVID-19 awareness campaigns for communities without internet access
  • Responses to Anti-Asian xenophobia and violence
  • Documentation of human rights abuses as a result of COVID-19
  • Services based work that now needs to be done online (ie. mental health services, counseling services, emergency kits), with a priority given to services for women, LBTIQ communities and their families
  • Supporting the disability community and those with heightened/underlying health risks

As the situation around COVID-19 evolves, we ask you to join us in supporting activists as they stand on the forefront and respond to COVID-19 in their parts of the world.

Since March 1st, UAF has been flexible and made adjustments to our grantmaking so that we could approve COVID-19 related grant requests. We are working around the clock to get funds to those in urgent need.

In the midst of the fallouts caused by COVID-19, we call on you to help Urgent Action Fund provide activists with the support they need to get through this health crisis.

As a leading rapid responder for human rights crises worldwide, join us and consider making a generous contribution to the COVID Crisis Fund for Feminist Activists or establishing ongoing support by becoming a monthly donor to help our courageous activists and their communities at this critical time.
