Donor Privacy Policy
We value our community and treat all data with respect and care. We exercise care for the privacy of members of our community and use data only in service of advancing our charitable mission. By visiting this website, you are consenting to the privacy policies described below. If you do not agree with our privacy policies, please do not use the website.
Information Collection and Use
Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights (Urgent Action Fund, “Website”, “we”) is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We maintain the privacy of website visitors and our donors through various technical means of protection. We offer all donors the option of keeping their names anonymous and provide easy ways for donors to update their contact information and to state and manage their mailing preferences.
Donors may change their mind about their preferences or anonymity at any time and can indicate their wishes by emailing kathleen@urgentactionfund.org.
We may combine information gathered from the Website and information that we have received, gathered, acquired, or stored from other sources, both information collected offline by Urgent Action Fund and information received from third parties—including information that currently exists in our files—into a single donor record. We also use and/or combine information that we collect offline or receive from third-party sources (e.g., matching gift information from employers, address forwarding information from the United States Postal Services, etc.) to edit, enhance, and/or check the accuracy of your donor record.
We use information generally to communicate with you about your gift and its impact, to process gifts and issue gift receipts, to share news about our programmatic work, and to acknowledge and thank supporters. We don’t sell, barter, give away, rent, or permit anyone outside the Urgent Action Fund to use or access your personal information.
We occasionally use independent contractors and third-party agents, affiliates, and partners to perform functions such as marketing, analytics, providing customer service, etc., on our behalf. These entities have access to the personal information needed to perform their functions and are contractually obligated to maintain the confidentiality and security of any personal information. They are restricted from using, selling, distributing, or altering this data in any way other than to provide services to Urgent Action Fund. We may also disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with an appropriate law enforcement investigation, current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our Web site.
Donations
In order to make a donation on this Web site, a user must first complete a donation form, on which the user must provide certain contact information (like name and email address) and financial information (like credit card number and expiration date). This information is used to facilitate the donation and to provide a donation receipt. If we have trouble processing a donation, this contact information can be used to get in touch with the user. This information will be used to send the user materials, including a gift receipt (if a donation is made). The user will be added to Urgent Action Fund’s electronic and “snail mail” mailing lists unless requested otherwise. At any time, you may request to be removed from Urgent Action Fund’s mailing lists. To do so, please send us an email. We use Network for Good to process donations. Network for Good exercises strict protection and privacy standards which can be reviewed on their website. Network for Good does not retain, share, store or use personal information for any secondary purposes.
