Donate to Our Sister Funds in Africa and Latin America

To support women human rights defenders in Africa or Latin America, consider a gift to our sister funds: Urgent Action Fund-Africa and Urgent Action Fund-Latin America. There are two ways to do this:

  • Urgent Action Fund provides fiscal sponsorship for gifts from US-based donors to our sister funds. Make a donation and select Urgent Action Fund-Africa or Urgent Action Fund-Latin America in the special designation field and we will ensure that it reaches them.
  • You may also give directly to our sister funds by contacting their offices:
    • Urgent Action Fund-Africa is a registered non-governmental organization in Kenya. Visit their website or call (011) +254 20-2731095.
    • Urgent Action Fund-Latin America is a registered non-governmental organization in Colombia. Visit their website or call (011) 571-368-6155.

Donate to the Black Women’s Fund

The Black Women’s Fund is a Black woman led start-up philanthropic initiative working to create pathways for black women (and allies) to directly fund black women, girl, and trans-led organizing efforts. The Urgent Action Fund is proud to provide fiscal sponsorship for the Black Women’s Fund. The Black Women’s Fund’s current campaign supports women and girls in Haiti. Make a donation to the Black Women’s Fund at Urgent Action Fund.

Leave a Legacy

Leaving a legacy by making a gift through your will or estate plan is an amazing way to support the women’s human rights activists of the future. Advantages include:

  • An ability to support the work of future generations, in a time when many systems are set up to pass on economic and environmental hardship to our children.
  • More than 60% of all Americans die without a will, leaving the decisions about their assets completely out of their control at the time of death. By setting up a plan now, you can ensure that your assets are allocated in a way that expresses your most cherished values.
  • You may be eligible for an estate tax deduction, and there is no upper limit on the estate tax deduction for charitable bequests, like those to Urgent Action Fund. This means you can allocate more of your money to the causes and people you want to support.
  • You can conserve your assets while you need them, and give them away when you no longer do. This allows you to give a gift larger than you thought possible, to support women’s human rights around the globe.

If you are interested in learning more, please call 415-523-0360 and or email caitlin@urgentactionfund.org. We can provide you with information about how the process works, various options, and even sample language to discuss with your attorney.

Combined Federal Campaign

The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the annual workplace giving program for federal employees.  Each year federal employees and military personnel raise millions of dollars for charity by choosing to donate a portion of their salary.  If you or someone you know works for the federal government, please consider making a donation to Urgent Action Fund through the CFC.  This year, Urgent Action Fund
is participating as a member of the Human and Civil Rights Organizations of America federation.

During the enrollment period of September–December, federal employees are provided with a pledge card or web address to indicate the charity they are interested in supporting.  Simply designate Urgent Action Fund by including our CFC #26479 and EIN #03-0419743 in the spaces provided.  For more general information about CFC, visit http://www.opm.gov/CFC/ .
