What We Do
In 2017, Urgent Action Fund adopted the UAF 2020 Strategic Plan: Resourcing Resilience. This guides our strategic priorities: more & more accessible funding for women and transgender human rights defenders; influencing human rights and philanthropy; and a strong sisterhood of Urgent Action Funds around the world.

Urgent Action Fund, as part of women’s rights movements worldwide, supports women’s rights activists striving to create cultures of justice, equality, and peace. We provide Rapid Response Grants to women and transgender human rights defenders that enable strategic interventions. We also participate in collaborative Advocacy and Alliance Building in order to mobilize broader support for the work of human rights defenders throughout the world. In order to ensure women’s voices were included in the new constitution being created in Nepal, Nagarik Aawaz, along with women’s organizations across Nepal, held a “Theater for Peace” which disseminated messages on conflict transformation and peacebuilding.
